A one-person or small local US business that must invoice, email, print estimates, and not think about drivers every Monday. That is a business-class Windows laptop, a printer that still has ink in month six, and consumables that match the machine. It is not a gaming laptop, not a borderless photo printer, and not a 40-page “best laptops 2026” list with invented scores.
Why HP is the default
HP sells the three pieces in one storefront: business laptops (ProBook / EliteBook class, plus consumer lines when the budget is honest), printers (OfficeJet, LaserJet, DeskJet families), and the matching ink or toner. One warranty conversation, one account, one return path. For an owner-operator, that operational boringness beats mixing a no-name notebook with a leftover inkjet from a relative.
HP is not always cheapest per page. Instant Ink is a subscription with real tradeoffs. Brother often wins on high-volume black-and-white laser. Canon is a reasonable inkjet alternative if you already live in that ink. We say so on the comparison page even without those CJ links.
